  • "The president's vision for privatizing American space exploration may sound appealling innitioally, but it rests on flawed assumptions andcould result in the United Staes surrendering out lead in space exploration." The flawed assumptions are that the president thinks that the companies that take over will do fine on their own, and they can withstand taking care of Nasa without an issue. But the realization is that once the privatizing space companies take over, they are on their own. And if the company fails, NASA fails with them. They are on their own. Like they say , the captain always goes down with the ship.

  • Some may say that privatizing the space program could lead to many more job opportunities. But what about the people working there now? There are also roughly 18,000 people working for NASA right now (found on www.Nasa.gov And now the companies would have new people working for the space exploration program. So all the employees of Nasa , the ones who have put all of their pride and time into this program , will just be unemployed by who? The new people working there, the ones that may not even be interested in space research (that is a topic i will explain further later) . "The number of people unemployed in the US peaked in October 2009 at 15,421,000.There are now 3,333,000 fewer people unemployed in the country" says www.deptofnumbers.com Now we would just subtract from that feat, of having so much fewer people unemployed.

  • We may fall behind other nations in our lead on Space exploration. The US is in the lead for space research and exploration, and if we privatize we may fall behind other close competitors, such as China and Russia. While the company is scrambling for money to launch space shuttles into space many other countries may already be up there. And they may also be colonizing planets that could have been ours. We may need their permission to even get into space! on www.TheAtlanticWire.com "Charles Krauthammer is dismayed at the thought of the U.S falling behind other nations. 'Sure, decades from now there will be a robust private space travel industry. But that is a long time. In the interim , space will be owned by Russia and then by China". And what will we do then if we make a mistake large enough for us to have to flee Earth? We may not be able to. All because we fell behind with handing Nasa over to private companies.

  • What if the private industry that takes over gets too caught up in advertising? There wouldn't be enough space research and exploration being done . That isn't what Nasa was built for. Take the Red Bull Stratos mission for example . In their article, Red Bull hardly mentions what was important , Felix Baumgarteners 24 mile long jump. Instead all they talked about was how Red Bull funded the jump. Is this just the beginning? Us not knowing what is really going on with space exploration and research? Just finding daily news to be about what the Company is doing to fund for the missions and the equipment. The company may just commercialize how they are funding Nasa and how you should buy more of that companies product to help fund to , almost like taxes. "For NASA, space is still a high priority" (Dan Quayle (American 44th US Vice President under George Bush 1989- 1993)
